Breeding Plans

Please contact me for any information about breeding.

My focus for 2007 is finishing Indi as a CH (DONE!) and continue working on Betty and Kitty's obedience. Betty likes to be my demo-dog, so I'm sure she'll have a few more appearances this year!

I hope to get both girls titled in obedience, weight pull and possibly agility. I'm also supporting my favorite local rescue organizations any way I can, including speaking at events, using Betty as a demo-dog, and taking in the occasional foster pup.

I believe that temperament testing our dogs is as important prior to breeding as health tests such as OFA/PennHIP. Here is a snapshot of current temperament test statistics:

  • American Pit Bull Terrier
    469 (tested) 391 (passed) 78 (failed) 83.4% passed

  • American Staffordshire Terrier
    480 (tested) 400 (passed) 80 (failed) 83.3% passed

  • Australian Shepherd
    549(tested) 442(passed) 107(failed) 80.5% passed.

  • Collie
    791(tested) 625(passed) 166(failed) 79.0% passed.

  • Cocker Spaniel
    216(tested) 176(passed) 40(failed) 81.5% passed.

  • Golden Retriever
    659(tested) 551(passed) 108(failed) 83.6% passed.

I don't breed often. My last litter was whelped 5/03. With the time and money spent on traveling to shows, researching pedigrees, health testing, stressing out about finding awesome homes... how could I? My goal is to produce dogs with excellent temperaments, good health, and that can hold their own in the show or performance ring. I'm happy to say there are a few other people out there doing the same thing.
